Eco-printed and hand-dyed silk scarves make the perfect accessory to wear with your Olann handknits. I make these scarves seasonally, when there are enough flowers and other foliage to make beautiful prints. So in the Spring and Summer you’ll usually see new scarves join the collection when I find the time.
Most of the current scarves are Silk Charmeuse, which is a thicker fabric, making it exceptionally luxurious. It has a beautiful subtle sheen to the top side and a matte underside, as well as a hand-rolled hem. This scarf measures approximately 22 x 22 inches, and works well tied as a kerchief and in the hair. The prints achieved on the charmeuse can often be quite defined.
Scarves 1 and 3 are printed on a silk habotai, which is a lighter weight silk, and super drapy. These scarves measure 29 × 29 inches.
To make each scarf, first they were mordanted, making them ready to accept the dyes. Then they are laid with flowers and foliage collected from my garden in Sooke, before being bound and steamed, allowing the heat to draw out the pigments from the plants. Some scarves are then selected to be over-dyed in a dye-bath. This Spring the dye-baths were made using Marigold, Black Night, Red Cabbage and Dandelion. Each scarf is completely unique. They are printed as a mirror image, so each side of the scarf is the same but different.
These scarves are ready-to-ship. They would make an excellent gift on their own, or they look beautiful paired with Olann knits.

Silk scarves can be sent as oversized letter mail through Canada Post. If you wish to save on shipping you can input the discount code SCARFSHIPPING at checkout. Please note that there is no tracking provided with this option, and your address is not verified before shipping. So please provide the correct mailing address, including PO BOX numbers or general delivery instructions, when checking out. And please bear in mind the current back-log with Canada Post shipments when considering this option. If you choose to pay full Accessory Shipping then I will mail the package out with the best courier option available.
